Found handwritten shopping lists
Recycled paper, vintage thread, glue (14cm wide x 13cm high)

To make these artworks, I devised a system:

I return to the exact location where I originally found the shopping list. I then walk to the nearest likely shops to purchase the items on the list. Returning to my home or lodgings, I make a meal out of the ingredients, imagining what my absent collaborator (the person who lost* or discarded the list) might have had in mind.

These books were made to record the re-enactments and recipe extrapolations (together with some accompanying observations and research) of two shopping lists, one found in Cardiff, Wales, UK and one found in Bergues, Northern France.

*I ponder the potentially inconvenient and, for these artworks, ironic, consequence of the original owner having lost their list on the way to the shops.
