NOTE: After much wrangling, I concluded that these assemblages are conceptually faulty: Firstly, in the arbitrary system I used to make them (combining two objects - why not three or seven, for example?). Secondly. because combining found objects, whilst potentially playful and incongruous, seems to dissolve the connection to the one individual who lost each of the singular items (my unwitting collaborator) and thus interferes with the very narrative potential which interests me.
They have been dismantled and this page now serves as a memorial and archive. Some of the objects live on to be featured in new artworks.
Two found objects (2023»)
Made entirely of objects found whilst out walking, these tiny assemblages are all under 20cm in any direction. Most of them are substantially smaller than that.
Now numbering over eighty separate works forming a whole, they are subject to a system of making, with each comprising only two found objects discovered at different times and places.
This method aims to concentrate the possibilities of incongruity, playfulness and imagined narrative that might emerge and therefore bring forth their “found-ness” as an intrinsic characteristic of my practice.
